Ever since Khalid’s debut album in 2017, El Paso’s music scene has been making waves with new artists stepping up to claim their spot on the city’s stage. With so much talent on hand, a new online video series called Extended Play will feature a local artist every two weeks beginning on April 2.
The program is sponsored by J&K Presents, a locally owned hospitality group that also owns One:One co-working office space, Later Later public-house, and Born TX Raised bar and restaurant. The team is also responsible for helping to bring Khalid to the national spotlight.
Extended Play’s first episode features singer-songwriter Wildsters, a 19-year-old born in Denver and now living in El Paso since age 7. She took up music as a student at Silva Health Magnet High School, under the guidance of school choir director Elvin Portflit. Wildsters began creating music and uploading songs to Soundcloud, gaining thousands of plays and followers. She has performed at various local venues and will perform at the 2018 Neon Desert Music Festival in Downtown El Paso.
Future episodes of Extended Play will feature rapper Young Deluxe, singer Miles Angel and indie band Fat Camp, all of which are scheduled to perform at Neon Desert Music Festival this year as well.
Future episodes of Extended Play will be released on April 2, 16, 30 and May 14, 2018 and may be watched at extendedplay.jandkpresent.com
