From glass bongs to more than 30 bands, El Paso’s 420 Festival will be a Marijuana-influenced event high with information about the benefits of cannabis as well as live entertainment on April 20 from 4:30 pm to 11:30 pm at Xmotoball Paintball, 14372 Loving Lane in Horizon City.

There won’t be any marijuana as that is illegal in Texas, however, festgoers will be provided with information about progress on the legalization of the leafy green herb as well as education on CBD or cannabidiol at the event. CBD is a chemical that’s found in cannabis. It’s known to help those who are afflicted with epilepsy, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain and other illnesses. CBD has a wide variety of medicinal and therapeutic effects that marijuana offers. But unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive and is legal in Texas.

“We want to build a foundation to help bring awareness of the benefits of cannabis by hosting an event with music and education,” said Alex Vargas, 420 Fest founder and owner of Alive Audio, a local sound and stage management company.

There will also be several vendors, including smoke shops selling various pipes, bongs, and smoking tools.

In addition to the educational event, guests can expect a variety of entertainment including more than 30 local and national rock bands on three stages. Among the list of bands is Hire, Pacific Dub, Demrick, Crooked Teeth and Ruthcrest.

There will even be acrobats and fire throwers providing entertainment throughout the day.

Tickets to the 420 Festival may be purchased in advance at for $15 per person or two tickets for $25 with the coupon code 420EPT. Tickets are $20 per person online and at the gate on April 20. For more information, check out the official 4/20 Fest Facebook event.
