San Jacinto Plaza will officially kick off the holiday season in El Paso when the 30 foot tall Christmas tree is illuminated for the first time this year on Saturday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m.
Celebration of Lights invites the public for a day loaded with activities for the entire family. Beginning with the Holiday Market at noon to 8 p.m. at the pedestrian pathway, featuring various local vendors and arts & crafts. At 4:30 p.m. live entertainment begins at San Jacinto Plaza. The tree lighting will be at 5:30 p.m. The annual light parade and fireworks display will follow immediately after the tree lighting. Live entertainment will continue through 11 p.m. The Winterfest ice rink will also be open 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The City continues to celebrate this century-old tradition of gathering with friends and family of over 70,000 people downtown. Brand new displays, lights have been added to this year.
The public can expect vibrant colors that match El Paso’s regional flavor with more than 400,000 mini lights adorning 120 trees, and a 30-foot tower tree with holiday decorations.
