Downtown’s Arts Festival Plaza will once again host an ice skating rink this winter with interactive features, holiday shopping, seasonal food and drinks, lights, décor and more.
Winterfest will kick off its second season on November 18, 2017 and will run through January 1, 2018. The event is organized by El Paso Live.
“El Paso Live is proud to produce a festival that drives excitement and foot traffic to downtown and its vendors. With the help of our sponsors and partners, we are able to create lasting memories and fun attractions in El Paso for the winter season,” said Bryan Crowe, General Manager of Destination El Paso.
Aside from ice skating, festival guests can step inside Providence Children’s Hospitals’ giant inflated snow globe, view the El Paso Electric 25 foot holiday tree, stay warm and cozy inside Texas Gas Services’ Warming Tent, enjoy a delicious Mexican hot chocolate in El Paso Live’s Kringle Kafé, shop locally at Downtown Management District’s Winter Market Shoppes (featuring Mini Donut Depot, Delicious Mexican Eatery, and other local vendors), and snap photos in front of numerous lights and décor made possible by The City of El Paso’s Museums and Cultural Affairs Department and Parks and Recreation Department.
New to the event this year, Big Media and the El Paso Museum of Art are teaming up to produce a stunning mural on the museum’s exterior wall creating a photo opportunity for guests to commemorate their time at the festival.
The rink and major features are open seven days a week, and WinterFest enhances the experience with a variety of special events throughout the season. Select Thursdays host festivities like the Ice, Ice, ‘80s Party, Skate with Santa, and Let it Snow Day, sponsored by FirstLight Federal Credit Union. Texas Gas Service is warming hearts with free holiday movies in the Plaza Theatre on select days. Guests can get in the spirit of the season with holiday music at the WinterFest rink every Sunday with Sunny 99.9.
WinterFest is affordable and fun for all ages, as it is FREE to SEE and $8 to SKATE. Skate passes are only $8 for an hour of skating with ice skate rentals included. Skate passes for Military are $7, and $5 for children 5 and under. Special skate discounts will be offered throughout the season thanks to The Hospitals of Providence, Providence Children’s Hospital, El Paso Electric and MetroPCS.
