Concordia Cemetery will come to life on Saturday, October 28 when the annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival kicks off at 2 p.m.
The event is a spiritual celebration that commemorates loved ones that have passed away. It will feature the traditional revelers dressed in vintage Mexican clothing with their faces painted as skulls. Dozens of vendors and artists will also participate, as well as several local food trucks. For entertainment, there will be live music from Echos in the Park, poetry readings, a scavenger hunt in the cemetery, dancers, and even a sunset fire dance performance by Mindy Chanson. Guests will also have the opportunity to have their own face painted in the traditional skull.
10-foot-tall Mojigana skeletons will roam the cemetery for an excellent photo opportunity. The event is presented by the Concordia Heritage Association and proceeds will benefit the cemetery. Admission will be $5 for adults, $1 for kids and students, and $2 for seniors 60 and over and military and their dependents.
