The University of Texas at El Paso is celebrating the return of school with their 27th annual Minerpalooza on Friday, September 1 at 6 p.m.
On the main stage, We the Kings; Jenny and the Mexicats; and Prime 80’Z will perform. Guests can also enjoy food from various food trucks and vendors, games, live music and a celebration of the start of the fall semester. Visitors are welcome to bring their own chairs to watch the free entertainment.
The event will be free and open to all members of the public.
The event also serves as one of the largest annual fundraisers for UTEP’s student organizations. Money is raised through Pete’s Playground, where guests can play family friendly games and inflatables with the purchase of tickets. Activities require one to three tickets to play. There will also be activities for adults 21 and over, which include a beer and wine garden and attractions from several event sponsors.
The event will take place on Glory Road 2 (GR2) parking lot, on the UTEP campus at the corner of Sun Bowl Drive and Glory Road.
Free parking will be available on campus starting at 5 p.m. and there will be an ADA shuttle running between the Sun Bowl 2 (SB2) parking lot and the Minerpalooza venue starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 11:30 p.m. Parking will be free in the Sun Bowl and Schuster parking garages; parking in the Glory Road Parking Garage costs $10.
