El Paso’s very own R&B artist who rose to fame after his hit song Location has been ranked among the best new artists in the world.
The nomination came just days before the release of his new music video for Young Dumb and Broke, which has already racked 7 million views on Youtube just a week after its release and a whopping 68 million plays on Spotify – making it his second most popular song. Location has 277 million plays on Spotify in just five months. Khalid is up against big names such as Kodak Black, whose hit song Tunnel Vision debuted on Billboard’s Top 40 in February and currently has 186 million plays on Spotify, and Julia Michaels, who is known for her song Issues, which is already at 377 million plays on Spotify since its release in January.
Khalid is the 74th most popular artist on Spotify, which had 2 million recording artists as of June of 2016. His debut album American Teen was released in March and peaked at number 9 on Billboard’s U.S. Albums list and number 16 on Billboard’s pop singles list and number 2 on the U.S. R&B list.
