Tuesday, July 11, 2017, is the day El Pasoans can beat the 100-degree heat for free, thanks to 7-Eleven.
That’s because the convenience store is celebrating 7/11 day at all eighty-three of their El Paso locations. All you have to is show up between 11 am and 7 pm mountain standard time for a free small Slurpee. Of course, they can only handle so much concoction of colored, flavored sugar water so you’ll want to hurry up and get yours before they run out (it’s happened before.)
Fun Fact: Omar Knedlik invented the machines to make Slurpees in the late 1950s after his soda fountain broke down, forcing him to put his soda in a freezer, where they became slushy.
