One of the El Paso’s only events dedicated to marijuana is back this weekend at The Boardwalk at Ricky’s.
The event will have no marijuana at all as it is illegal in Texas, however, organizers say that’s not really the point. They want to educate attendees on the benefits of the green herb and the process to legalize it in Texas.
“[We want to] stop the stigma of cannabis use,” said Alex Vargas, organizer. “[We want to] build a new festival for the sun city, [it’s for] educational and entertainment purposes only.”
Representatives from the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws or NORML will be guest speakers, among others. There will also be live music from more than 25 bands that will travel from as far as San Antonio. Other activities include glass blowing, fire dance performers vendors and food trucks.
The event is open to all ages, 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. 420 Fest kicks off on Thursday, April 20 (420 day) at 6pm and continues through 1:30 am Saturday. Admission is $5 per day. The Boardwalk at Ricky’s is located at 1773 Pali Dr, off of Zaragoza.
