Two immensely popular powerhouse Mexican pop-rockers are getting together for a special performance in El Paso.
Mexican divas Gloria Trevi and Alejandra Guzmán, long considered rivals, have joined forces for their first-ever joint tour and are planning a stop at the El Paso County Coliseum, 4100 E. Paisano, on Friday, Sept. 1. The tour kicks off in June.
Trevi and Guzmán burst onto the music scene in the 1990s and 2000s, breaking stereotypes with their style of Mexican pop rock music and defiant attitudes. And though the two giants are still going strong individually today, they have never performed together, until now.
This tour “is a dream,” Trevi said, and it will “show unity, strength, and love… from two strong women with a strong message,” Guzman added. “La Rockera” Guzmán has been nominated several times for a Latin Grammy Award, winning once, and has earned nominations for a Grammy Award and a Billboard Latin Music Award. Trevi, often referred to as the “Mexican Madonna,” has won a Billboard Latin Music Award and was recently honored with the President’s Award at the BMI Latin Music Awards.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and will be available at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com. Tickets prices were not announced.
