It was a normal evening at UTEP’s Don Haskins Center on Saturday evening: attendance was low, and the men’s basketball team was getting stomped by a visiting team.
But if that wasn’t enough, the small, yet enthusiastic crowd held up a new message.. this one was not intended for the team, but the school’s athletic department instead. Fire Floyd it read. A sign that many fans of UTEP sports have been saying ever since the football team lost five games in a row. The men’s basketball team has lost three out of six games so far.
Head coach Tim Floyd and UTEP have not responded to the angry signs.
