It started off as a great project… TxDot installing four large monuments that will represent UTEP and Texas Tech on Interstate 10. But now, the project has many El Pasoans upset.
Two of those four monuments are already up near the Spaghetti Bowl — for Texas Tech. The UTEP monuments will be located on 1-10 near the school, however nothing has gone up yet. Construction had already begun on the Texas Tech monuments when El Paso 411 initially reported about it back in August.
On social media, many El Pasoans say TxDot should have given UTEP priority of the Spaghetti Bowl area and should have allocated funds for El Paso Community College as well, which has been in El Paso since 1969. Texas Tech opened also opened in El Paso in 1969.
