What to do in El Paso- Weekend Events November 20-22, 2015

 

El Paso is full of fun things to do this weekend. From comedy shows, to car shows.. even Santa is getting in on the fun! Several techno events for those of you that want to party… and of course, plenty to do outdoors.

Here’s the official list of things to do in El Paso this weekend!

Friday, November 20

Plain White T’s — Chicago band, best known for Grammy nominated song “Hey There Delilah” will perform at Tricky Falls, 209 S. El Paso St. Doors open at 8 p.m., show kicks off at 9 p.m. Tickets are $21.

Sonny Ozuna in Concert — Chicago music legend Sonny Ozuna performs with special guest Chubby Checker at the Abraham Chavez Theater, 2 Civic Center Plaza. Special show to benefit the Vietnam Memorial Fund. Show begins at 8 p.m.

Chris Lake – Electronic music producer performs at 301 Nightlife, 301 S. Ochoa. Doors open at 9 p.m., 18+ welcome. Free admission with RSVP at eventbrite.com. Admission: $10 general admission.

Fort Bliss

Friday at the Fire – Freedom Crossing hosts the weekly live entertainment at the outdoor fireplace. Chris Baker (acoustic rock) performs. 6 to 11 p.m., free.

Sports

UTEP vs Texas State (Hockey) — The Miners new hockey team takes on Tx State at the Sierra Providence Events Center, 4100 E. Paisano. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Ice Skating

Fountains at Farah – The Promenade Ice Pond open’s for the season this weekend. The outdoor rink is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. located in the Promenade lower level, in front of the Amphitheater. Admission to the skating rink is $13 for an all day pass with skate rental, or $10 without for adults and $8 for kids with skates, or $5 without.

Amusement Parks

El Paso Zoo – Step into the wild life at the El Paso Zoo, 4001 E. Paisano. Featuring 35 acres of animals, from Lions and Giraffes in Africa, to Sea Lions in the Americas, or Orangutans and Elephants in Asia. Gates: 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission: $12 ages 13 to 59, $7.50 under, $9 for seniors.

Wyler Ariel Tramway – Hop on the cable car and take a ride up the Franklin Mountains and admire the beauty of El Paso, Juarez and Las Cruces – from 5,632 feet above sea level. It’s one of the best views in the world! View through the high power telescopes enhance the experience. Call ahead to check possible closures. Open 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to go on the tramway: $8 person, $4 12 and under. 411: 566-6622

Stage, Art & Theater

Picasso at the Lapin Agile – Steve Martin’s popular play featuring characters from Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso and their work that would eventually lead to their success. Show will be at The El Paso Playhouse, 2501 Montana at 8 p.m.

Samuel Comroe & Drew Lynch – Stand up comedians perform at the El Paso Comic Strip, 1201 Airway Blvd. Show time is 8:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Tickets: $12-$22

Saturday, November 21

Downtown El Paso Artist & Farmers Market – Arts, crafts, live music, and locally grown produce at this family friendly, outdoor environment. Event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. at Union Plaza in downtown El Paso. Event is free and open to the public, sponsored by the City of El Paso.

Santa’s Arrival – Santa himself will make his first appearance in El Paso at Basset Place Mall. The big man will also bring special guests from Frozen the movie. Santa arrives at 10 a.m. inside the mall, near Express. Event is free and open to the public.

Rodney Carrington – Comedian brings his “Here Comes the Truth” Tour to the Abraham Chavez Theater, 2 Civic Center Plaza. Show starts at 7 p.m.

Downtown Ghost Tour – Roam the streets of downtown El Paso with professional ghost tour guides, all while learning the history and stories of the haunted. Participants meet at Ghost 915 Paranormal Research Center, 108 San Antonio at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $15.

Bon Jovi Tribute Band – Livin’ on a Prayer, a Bon Jovi Tribute band will perform at Speaking Rock Entertainment, 122 S. Old Pueblo Rd. Free, 18 and over welcome. Show starts at 8:30 p.m.

Gesaffelstein – One incredible evening with The Dark Parisian Prince of Techno at The Garden, 511 Western St. Show starts at 10 p.m. Tickets: $20 advance, $25 day of at ticketfly.com

Fort Bliss

Tree Lighting – Freedom Crossing’s Holiday of Heroes 2015 tree lighting ceremony kicks off at 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Freedom Crossing, 1611 Haan Road on Ft. Bliss. Event is free and open to the public.

Sports

C3 Muscle Car Show – Featuring classic cars. Free for spectators. Begins at 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 2181 Sun Country Dr. 411: 474.4054

Scenic Sundays — Hike, run, bicycle or even skateboard at Scenic Drive! The road is closed for traffic Sundays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Free for everyone.
