So you have the day off in El Paso and are looking for something fun, yet educational to do. Look no further, we have a list of our top five favorite museums to spend your day in the Sun City. Some are free, others will cost you a couple of bucks. Be sure to call ahead to confirm their schedule.

1. INSIGHTS El Paso Science Center
El Paso’s original science center, Insights promotes science education through exploratory, interactive learning experiences for all ages. The museum has many hands on exhibits, such as the augmented reality sandbox, which lets guests modify and alter a topographical map. Another popular exhibit is Electrifying Energy, where guests will learn about energy ranging from fossil fuels to renewable resources through interactive stations. Admission: 3 and under free, 2-12 $3.50, Adults $5.50, Military $4.50.

2. El Paso Exploreum
The El Paso Exploreum Children’s Museum museum features exhibits such as Old El Paso, a high tech hot spot, which emphasizes on technology and science, and Shuttle to the Stars, an interactive shuttle that rumbles and roars highlighting the planetary orbits above. Unfortunately, the museum will close its doors for good on December 30, 2015 due to lack of funding. Admission: Babies free, 2-60 $8, Seniors $6, Educators $6.

3. El Paso Holocaust Museum
Visitors to the Museum will learn about the Holocaust through its permanent exhibit, which features a number of multi-media galleries that chronicle the events of the Holocaust. Tours of the Museum are self-guided. Admission is free of charge.

4. El Paso Museum of Art
The El Paso Museum of Art is the fine arts museum of the City of El Paso and a major cultural and educational resource for the surrounding region. It houses a permanent collection of over 6,000 works of art. Admission is free of charge.

5. El Paso Museum of History
The El Paso Museum of History hosts five galleries examining 400 years of border life via artifacts, narratives, photos and videos in which the culture and rich history of El Paso are explored. The museum is also home to the country’s only digital wall. Admission is free of charge.
