El Paso twitter users are once again trying to reach out to 18-year-old pop star Justin Bieber. This time, they have a simple request: Sing for Jacqueline.
Jacqueline Aimee Trejo, a 16-year-old student at Horizon High School and avid Justin Bieber fan, passed away February 20 of Aplastic Anemia, according to her best friend Adomaitis Valenzuela. “She fought till the end she fought hard,” tweeted Valenzuela. “My best friends dreams were to just go to 1 of your concerts but that never happened.”
Valenzuela and hundreds of other students from Horizon High School and El Paso took to twitter using hashtag #JustinsingforJacqueline. The trend quickly spread throughout the nation. It was among one of the most tweeted hashtags on Twitter on Monday afternoon, gaining nearly 100 tweets per minute at one point.
On Jacquelines personal Twitter account, nearly every other tweet was about Justin Beiber. “Been asleep all day, had to wake up to watch my boo
@justinbieber on snl even though I’m at the hospital, I love you :),” read one tweet.
Justin Bieber has not responded to the thousands of messages. In September, Bieber responded to a similar tweet, “RIP Avalanna. i love you” he posted for 6-year-old fan Avalanna Routh who died of cancer. The tweet was retweeted 223,771 times, the most of any celebrity on Twitter.
Jacqueline’s friends in El Paso say they hope Bieber will recognize their friend. “i know she would do something like this for me RIP
#justinsingforjacqueline, ” tweeted Valenzuela.
Jacqueline’s last tweet: “ily too <3”
